Almost everyone will have a hump where the nasal cartilages and bone meet, but there is a difference in the size of the hump.
If the hump is too prominent, then the nose will become hook nose. In case the hump is small, the hump removal surgery can smooth out the dorsum to give clean and sharp appearance. The hump removal surgery is performed by making a very small incision (1-3mm) and shaving the protruding hump through the hole.

When a patient with dorsal hump undergoes dorsal augmentation, the silicone implant can be carved in the shape of the hump to create smooth dorsum. If the hump is severe, then the hump must be shaved before the augmentation.
