Subfascial breast augmentation

The most current and innovative breast augmentation is subfascial breast augmentation. It has the advantage of minimizing the chance of capsular contracture (hardening of the breast) and avoiding animation deformity (movement of the implant with flexion of the chest muscle). Besides these advantages, it produces the most natural appearing breasts.

The natural breast appearance occurs because the implant is placed at the ideal position which is above the pectoralis (chest) muscle. The implant is not blunted by the muscle to give a more defined appearance. Yet being under the fascia has the advantage of minimizing implant rippling or implant palpability.

In addition, subfascial location lacks significant blood vessels. Therefore, there is minimal bleeding during surgery. When the surgical field is clean without blood, it minimizes the chance of capsular contracture (hardening of the breast) after implant placement.

The subfascial breast augmentation takes longer and is more technical to perform for the plastic surgeon, but the benefits far outweigh the effort. Please come in for consultation to look at photos.
